SANDALS ANTIGUA RESORT AND SPA
The warmth of the welcome we received
from the management and staff on our first visit to Sandals Antigua
in January, was second to none. Normally a "couples only" hotel,
Sandals offered us several bedrooms for single occupancy (at a
supplement), and even purchased some extra beds on request for
clients sharing bedrooms and requiring twin beds! Each of the
superbly appointed en-suite bedrooms is air-conditioned, with a
king-size bed, hair dryer, radio, telephone, safe, satellite TV, tea
and coffee making facilities, and the bathrooms have bath and
shower.
The food was excellent throughout, with a choice of four different
restaurants, including three a la carte themed restaurants (at no
extra cost). The brand new all-suite wing of the hotel opened in
August 2006 and, in addition, there are two new themed restaurants,
and a state of the art swimming pool and conference centre. Out of
365 beaches on the island of Antigua, Sandals resort is nestled on
the best and most famous of all - Dickenson Bay. A few footsteps
from the island's finest white sand beach, in exotic, colourful
gardens, you will discover five freshwater pools and five
whirlpools. The large main pool with its signature swim-up pool bar
serves refreshing tropical drinks in limitless fashion. At Sandals
Antigua there are many ways for you to relax. Sandals is the only
resort in Antigua with a world class spa, with expert staff trained
to pamper you to perfection.
Registering early is paramount for this holiday as we have taken up
an option on flights for up to 40 seats and once the option has
passed we will be unable to offer this holiday without a substantial
surcharge.

ANTIGUA
Antigua's history is rife with the clash of empires, including the
French and the Dutch. Finally, the English settled here in 1632,
fortifying the island with battlements all along the shoreline and
constructing a major naval centre at English Harbour.
Horatio Nelson served as the head of the British naval command in
English Harbour. Nelson's Dockyard is the only remaining example of
its kind, showcasing the naval headquarters for the British fleet
during the 18th & 19th centuries.
For an island comprising only 108 square miles, Antigua hosts an
abundance of well preserved, beautifully restored historical sites
including the sugar mill at Betty's Hope, Tyrrell's Church, Nelson's
Dockyard museum, and St. John's Cathedral and museum.
